RCA Updates – June 2018
Fourth of July. We are pleased to announce the return of the annual Fourth of July celebration at the Maury School. The events will start at 10am (see the attached flyer or https://www.facebook.com/events/626891574353573/for the details). Many thanks to board member John Leary for taking the lead to make this happen – but we also still need volunteers to help. Please visit https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c4bafaa2ca0f85-rosemontand sign up for a slot if you can. We look forward to seeing you!
Meeting Report. On June 21, we were joined by Rachael Moxley, a City Engineer, and other City staff for a briefing on the City’s new Stormwater Utility Fee; starting this year, it is a new line item on real estate bills (typically $70, twice annually), to fund the increasing costs of state and federal Chesapeake Bay protection mandates. One of the pending issues is how the City can offer credits for residences that reduce their runoff impact, which are planned to be offered starting in the fall for the 2019 billing cycle. For more information about the fee generally, and to provide feedback, please visit https://www.alexandriava.gov/tes/stormwater/info/default.aspx?id=93591. Additionally, a copy of the presentation provided to the RCA is available at http://rosemontcitizensassoc.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/2018-06-21-SWU-Credits-Rosemont.pptx.
