2024 Officer Candidates

President
Jol Silversmith
I have been privileged to serve as the President of the RCA since 2016 and would appreciate the membership’s endorsement to continue to do so. Elizabeth and I arrived in Rosemont in 2010 (subsequently joined by our niece Louise) and appreciate its small-town feel. There are ongoing challenges for the neighborhood, reflecting the world around it, but I believe that the RCA (including PELT and other volunteers, new and old) are well-prepared to respond. (In my “spare time,” I work in aviation regulatory law, tend to a clowder of cats at home, and fill my yard with holiday inflatables.)

Second Vice President
John Leary
My name is John Leary. I’ve lived in Rosemont for 54 years. I’m an RCA officer committed to making our neighborhood a great place to live. I’ve led the RCA’s Independence Day celebration for nearly a decade and maintain the RCA website. I’ve served as PTA President at Naomi L. Brooks Elementary, Assistant Scoutmaster and Chair of Troop 131, and a Scholarship Fund of Alexandria board member for nine years. As a fourth-generation Rosemont resident, I hope to lead a revival of the RCA’s Oktoberfest in Beach Park after a 30-year hiatus to help foster a greater sense of community.

Secretary
John Patrick
I am conversant with neighborhood association business, having been president of the RCA for one year in the late 1980s and having chaired the RCA’s land use committee throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s. Being retired gives me ample time to participate in civic activity, so I would like to support the RCA once again in an official capacity if I can be of help. I believe my professional experience as a technical editor suits me well to serve as secretary of the RCA.

Treasurer
Dina Deringer
I have served as RCA’s treasurer since late 2022. I’m a good fit for the position because I am detail-oriented, like working with numbers, and love being able to help the community. I take the position as RCA Treasurer very seriously; it’s important to me that all donations and financial transactions are promptly handled and properly accounted for. As a member of the RCA’s PELT Committee, I enjoy working with my fellow PELT colleagues and RCA officers to advance projects important to our community. I would be honored to continue working as RCA’s Treasurer if given the opportunity.
